The Parish of St. Peter is one of eleven parishes in the Caribbean island country of Barbados. Located in the north of Barbados it is the one of two parishes that extends to both the east and west coasts. The other is Saint Lucy.

The Barbados "Platinum Coast," which extends through St. Peter from St. James just to the south, has helped to make St. Peter a tourist hot spot. The parish is surrounded with white-sandy beaches including the world famous Mullins Bay.

Sights and places to see in St. Peter, Barbados

The Platinum Coast is a stretch of powdery white sandy-beach located to the north of Holetown. The area also includes much of the coastline St. James.

Mullins Bay is an easily accessible beach with and the beautiful Caribbean waters are calm and clear. Although Barbados offers some more secluded beaches than Mullin's Bay, the natural setting and other special features available at this location make it worth a visit.

St. Peter also contains many rolling hills and terraces some of which are still covered by sugar cane. Other large tourist sites are the Port St. Charles marina (the only marina in Barbados) and the Almond Beach Village.

The islands climate tends to be nice throughout the year although June to October is the hurricane season. The peak season is December to May as they are the cooler and dryer months.

The international airport is 10 miles from Bridgetown and is undergoing a large expansion. There are several airlines that offer direct flights. Buses are the best and cheapest way to manoeuvre around the island and there are plenty of taxis available and the fares are fixed by the government. Renting a car offers you more freedom to get around and you also drive on the left-hand side here, temporary driving permits are required and they are easily obtainable.
